Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 8 Variant comics?
I am new to comic books/graphic novels. I am collecting the new BtVS comic books season 8. I noticed on ebay they are selling variant covers to #1 and #2. Can you purchase these in the comic book store as well? The guy at the store had bought 100 of #1 so would he have any of the variant comics for #1. Basically, does he have to put in a special order for these variant comics or does the company just ship a variant cover for every x amount of normal covers. Curious as to how this works.

I'm not positive about this but here's what I know: At my comic store, the owner has Buffy Season Eight marked on my pull and hold (a pull and hold is a list of comics you want the store owner to order and reserve especially for you). He presented me with issue #1 of Buffy Season Eight. It was the special variant cover but I didn't like it. He told me he had pulled it because he thought I would be interested but I liked the regular cover with Buffy holding the scythe. So, it seems like they might have control over variant covers coming into them or they just receive a certain amount of variant covers since it would be only fair to send the same amount to each store. These things are limited so one store can't hog them all.
Do this: Ask for a pull and hold on the Buffy comics (if you don't already have one) and ask the store owner if he can reserve you a variant cover.
