MOST of the people (especially those into bodybuilding and work-outs) conscious of their health, weight and figure would always say no to sugar.
To people into bodybuilding, sugar is simply carbohydrates that tend to ruin what they have long been hardly working for. Weight gain, obesity and deformation of one's body shape are among their apprehensions.
There are truths and half truths in these apprehensions.
Sugar what?
Sugar is defined as a crystalline or granulated substance that produces sweet flavor when mixed with food and drinks. Its physical attribute is white and sparkling at that.
Scientifically though, sugar is a substance containing sucrose, lactose and fructose. It is basically carbohydrates. Sugar is a processed product from sugarcane. Most candy and chocolate products contain sugar. So are sodas and juices. There is actually a long list of food and beverage products using sugar as their ingredient.
On the health aspect, sugar gets all the blame for diabetes, obesity, toothache among many other things that make people uncomfortable --- and that includes ruining one's weight watch and deformation of body.
Truths and half truths
Sugar causes diabetes. The sweeping statement is half true. The truth is that excessive intake of sugar causes diabetes. The same goes for obesity, toothache among other discomforts that we have.
Among those with high apprehension on use intake are the bodybuilders, themselves. In fact, sugar (to bodybuilding people) spells doom in their work-outs. They consider sugar as largely contributing to weight gain, which causes them to lose track of their ideal or preferred weight.
The truth is that these bodybuilding people actually need sugar too. Everyone needs sugar in our body. It is the excessive eating of sugar and sugar based products that is bad for our health and tends to ruin what we have been hardly working for --- a beautifully molded body, plus the fitness of course. Excessive sugar in our bloodstream is what makes it unhealthy.
Picking the right sugar stuff
There is actually a long list of sugar variation. In the list are some, which actually contributes less to weight gain. These are the types of sugar that bodybuilders are taking.
Bodybuilders are dissuaded from taking Monosaccharide and Disaccharide. These are two of the three general sugar forms that tend to trigger fast digestion resulting in quick weight gain. Dieticians claim that these two sugar forms actually trigger insulin spike resulting from quick digestion.
Instead, bodybuilders are recommended to take Polysaccharide. Polysaccharide is made up of multi-molecular structure that tends to slow down digestion. It also tastes less sweet. Moreover, this particular sugar form is considered as "very ideal", aside from being a very healthy carbohydrates source.
Avoiding sugar, according to dieticians, is not healthy at all. On the contrary, it is not very healthy as many bodybuilders are made to believe. It is a wrong impression that has to be rectified. Bodybuilders, just like anyone, need sugar. In fact, bodybuilders need sugar if only to guarantee that depleted energies are replenished.
Cutting down a bodybuilder's intake of meat, rice, bread, chicken, milk, chocolate or any other food stuffs balances work-out and diet. But saying no to sugar is improper, says dieticians, who have been having a hard time rectifying what they claimed as a wrong impression on sugar. GP
