Are comics nerdy?
Me and my brother are having an argument about this, he says some comics are nerdy like star trek and star wars, but marvel and dc aren't.
Is nerdy bad? What constitutes nerdy? On one level, comics in general are simple reading material that can be read by almost anyone with a fifth grade education. On that end they really aren't nerdy as they don't apply to being an intellectual.
On the other hand, the most common subject matter in comics is some sort of fantasy or sci-fi universe which is typically considered a "nerd" area. So in that respect the medium is not nerdy but the typical subject matter is.
That would suggest that some comics could be termed nerdy and others not. As to your particular issue with certain subject matters, your brother seems to think that superheroes are not nerdy but that sci-fi is. Under common beliefs they are all nerdy and thus both forms of comics would be nerdy. Here's the kicker. Its all relative. He thinks superhero comics are not nerdy and you agree with him. You think sci-fi comics are not nerdy and he disagrees with you. It pretty much boils down to this, who cares whether it is nerdy or not. Does it make you a nerd to read something deemed nerdy? And if so is that a bad thing. Look at that, I came full circle.

Almost all ancient civilizations looked to the stars and astrology for guidance and inspiration. The emergence of zodiac signs and meanings relied heavily on specific star signs and moon signs to help individuals understand their own zodiac characteristics and personality traits, and the zodiac character traits of others.
Over the centuries, many forms of astrology have emerged – including the study of the more common 12 star sign/constellations ( i.e., Virgo, Leo, Pisces, etc.) but even that study was an offshoot of the most ancient and more personalized form of astrology – the 9 Star Ki from I Ching Astrology.
The 9 Star Ki Chinese zodiac allows you to calculate your specific star sign with your birth year to see how your personality traits and life's path were influenced from the very start. And, because your Birth Star sign rules your every waking day, you can also easily find out:
About yourself and the others in your life, as well as specific star sign compatibilities,
How best to spend your time and direct your energy in any given month or year because of where your specific star sign resides in the zodiac band,
The most advantageous places to be in, as well as star signs and meanings for your personal future.
Now with the I Ching zodiac as your daily "horoscope" companion, you can start to decode the significance of your Birth Star sign and your life as it unfolds. Click here to find your Birth Star and receive free feedback on your personality traits as they relate to your Birth Star and the 9 Star system. You will be amazed at how detailed and specific your "horoscope" is!
Your I Ching star sign tells you who you are
As mentioned, you must first discover which 'star' was present in your year of birth and influences your principal nature. This forms the basis of who you are, what your potential is and how you relate to the other eight star signs in your life, whether they be family, work peers, or friends in social situations.
Your I Ching star sign also tells you what "cycle of life" you're in
Apart from the nine stars already mentioned, this system of star sign astrology is also based on the influence of a perceived nine-year cycle.
During these nine yearly cycles there will be times when you pass through a winter 'phase' – you feel dormant, quiet and less sociable, which is not necessarily a good time to initiate new projects or major changes.
In another phase of the nine-year cycle you pass through 'autumn' – good for stabilizing and harvesting your effort – or a 'spring' phase, when you have your greatest opportunity for growth and new beginnings.
In 9 Star Ki, each of these star sign phases is known as a 'house.' Knowing where you are (your specific star sign, i.e. which house you are currently occupying within this cycle of nine years) is of immense value if you are considering moving, changing your job or initiating a new project.
It all begins when you find your own Birth Star Sign

How the I Ching star sign astrology works for your specific, daily horoscope and life plan
Deeply rooted in nature, the I Ching form of star sign astrology was once known as the farmers' almanac to the Chinese and Japanese world. Its star signs are named after the elements, the seasons and other imagery from the natural world.
Ancient people felt that the universal Ki energy, originating deep in the zodiac band, was primarily filtered by nine stars – hence 9 Star Ki.
On the outer limits are two stars, Vega and Polaris. Vega represented one end of the spectrum: cold, winter and the passive energy of the moon. Polaris, on the other hand, was associated with the sun and the active energies of fire.
Between these two stars lie the seven stars of the Ursa Major constellation, also known
as the Great Bear or Great Dipper. Essentially, the Ursa Major constellation rotates between Polaris and Vega and in ancient times acted as a compass pointing out a different direction in each season for each person as his or her Birth Star related to the rotation (see diagram above). This understanding gave rise to the 9 Star Ki astrology system.
