The way the world is turning away from god is like the initial dagger plunged into his chest, and as god realized he was no longer wanted, he turned away from civilization. Then marveled at how he could have made the mistake he did in creating humans and giving them free will, followed by humanity further seperating god from their daily lives.

I think thats what it means, granted im an Athiest so its hard to put my mind in that state to analyze it
