Can someone explain the spiderman comics to me?
I have been wanting to read spider-man for a while now, what with all the latest happenings, but I don't know where to start, or what universe he is in now what with the Brand new Day thing happening. So I figure I will start from the very beginning with amazing fantasy 15. I'm thing of getting a digital subscription to marvel.com. So I wanted to know are their comics in order on there? Like if you click oldest to newest? I noticed there is a large gab starting with amazing spiderman #137 and #177. What is with that? is that normal? Also by in order I mean all the web of spiderman, peter parker spiderman, spectacular spiderman. I don't get the difference, how are you supposed to follow all that? Is there a chart or diagram out there to read them in order?
On another note, that new fantastic 4 that is coming out, which spiderman is that? Brand new day one, or I don't even know.......
Each Spider Man title is readable by itself. Those other Spider-Man (Peter Parker,Spectacular) titles were being publish alongside the Amazing Spider Man. Amazing Spider Man is the one you should focus on since it is the original one and the one being published right now. Now is a perfect time to jump in since Brand New Day is over and I would suggest to start with issue 654.1 coming out this month. Spider-Man is in the Marvel Universe, Brand New Day didn't change where in the Marvel Universe he is but it just changed every ones memory to cover up one of Spider-Man's biggest mistakes and fix the problems that mistake cost. So it is the same Spider-Man as in ASM #1.There is another Spider Man in the Ultimate Universe but that book is called Ultimate Spider-Man. If you want to know what happened before, during,and after Brand New Day then check out ASM # 525 and onward. Its the same Spider-Man in the Avengers, New Avengers and now the Future Foundation which is the new Fantastic Four team. As to the lack of issues on Marvel.com, I guess they have not digitized all the comics yet. If you want to check out the earlier titles of ASM, visit your local bookstore or comic book shop and ask for the Marvel Masterworks Amazing Spider Man collection.
