Paper Back
If an assignment has a page limit, does that include the back of the paper?
There is a limit of three pages on an assignment.
There needs to be a bibliography (should I leave this on a separate page?) and a minimum of 750 words.
However, 750 words goes over two pages so that means it would share some of the page as the bibliography. Is this OK or is it possible to print on the backside of the paper and stay within the limit of three pages?
If I use the backside of a paper will it be counted as one or two pages?
I guess I should have noted,
*Lotsa questions.
Sorry about that.
I've debated this question in my mind several times over the years. From my experience you will not lose points if you exceed the page limit due to your bibliography. No reasonable professor would ding you for going over the word count if you only went over due to a bib. Since your paper is relatively short in length, I really don't think that you are supposed to cut the body of it down to about 500 words or so so that you can have a bibliography. In the past, I have never worried about the bibliography in the word count, especially when it's not a very long paper. Just don't include the bib in your word count, it's quite simple really.
Don't put the bib on the backside of the page. It would still be the same as using another piece of paper, and it is not the standard way you should assemble an assignment. Include a seperate page for the bibliography only and title it either "Bibliography" or "Works Cited." Never include any other info on this page or it would look bizarre.
The website I have included in the "source" box below states that you should not include the bibliography in your word count, but when I looked it up online I did find a few websites that claimed you should include everything in the word count, however, I'm almost positive these were all for publishing purposes and did not pertain to school assignments.
Bottom line: don't include it. The bib has nothing to do with the text of your paper. If it did, students who used more sources and did a better job researching their work would be punished. I highly doubt your teacher wants you to use only one or two sources, so go ahead and use as many as you want! A great website to use for a bib is easybib.com, here's the link: http://www.easybib.com/
It formats your bibliography for you, you just have to put in the information, like the author, what type of source you used, etc. It has saved me so much time! I only wish I'd known about it longer.
Hope this helped. Good luck!
