he says we're making a team, so i think it will be a team up of marvel characters

Yeah, you should stayed after the credit of Iron-Man, you wouldn't asking this question if you stayed. However, if you do see the scene after the credit but didn't get it:

You're right, they are making a team which called Team Avengers
The team consist Iron Man, Thor and Captain America as their original line up.
Marvel already planning to released The Avengers on 2011, Captain America (2011) Thor (2010) and the sequel of Hulk and Iron Man probably around 2009-2010 before The Avengers movie released.

Team Avengers/a team of superhero actually team up because there are one supervillain that one superhero can't beat. There are many speculation who will be the villain. It could be Carnage from Spider-Man, but they will have to bring Spider-Man if this happen. Spider-Man actually one of the team but he only join the team a bit late. Hulk could be the villain too because he will resign from the team and on the comics he got in a fight with Thor, Iron-Man and Spider-Man! Galactus also can make a great Supervillain... I don't know, there are just speculation.

Iron Man (2008)
--Nick Fury the director of S.H.I.E.L.D told Tony Stark about the team--

The Incredible Hulk (2008)
--Tony Stark tried to asking Hulk to join the team--

Thor (2009/10)
--Tony Stark and Bruce Banner will make a cameo on this movie and told Thor about the team-- I'm not sure about this one tho, just guessing

Captain America (2010/11)
--If they do it like the comic books, Iron Man and Thor will found Captain America in a block of ice and revive him which later make Captain America the team leader--

The Avengers (2011)
--There will be a supervillain, who could it be?--

I also would like Spider-Man, Daredevil, X-Men (Wolverine of course) to involved into The Avengers storyline but this will make the movie a high budget film and have a lot of high profile actor/actress in one movie (like Ocean 11/12) so I don't know if they will make it like that.

What does a comic publishing company do when their continuity is convoluted and they need to reinvigorate their main lines and gain new readers and interest for their characters all over again, but they don't want to change the regular line? Create a new line of course! And thus marvel comics ultimate line was conceived and implemented, and has enjoyed monumental success.

Launched in the year 2000 with one title, Ultimate Spider-Man, marvel comics ultimate line intended to take marvel's most popular characters back to day one and reimagine them to attract new readers to the fold. In doing so, they updated events and colloquialisms and slang, and so forth to be more accessible to readers today. A year later, two more books in the marvel comics ultimate line were launched, Ultimate X-Men and The Ultimates, the marvel comics ultimate line version of the Avengers.
