My pagan friends, Last Rites for a cat?
Although Bast has never called to me, I cannot but fell Her near at this time. I have no tools or even candles where I am (that's a long story.) Tux (Talisman he told me to call him) was a magic cat from the moment I met him. How should I properly bless this animal who passed to the Goddess this cold winter morning?
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your pet
and companion...
Most animals instinctively deal well with death
and return to the Goddess very reliably... the
very small number of animal spirits (compared
to human) remaining after death tells us that.
It's almost certain that Tux has found peace
with the Goddess and a place at Her side...
but, it would not hurt to hold a small memorial
service, just to make sure. You don't need any
tools. Just open a dialog with the Goddess and
ask Her to accept Tux's spirit... if She has not
done so already.

The uniqueness of Hinduism and Hindu practices has its root in the ethno-cultural diversity of the people of India and a myriad of customs practiced by them for centuries. Interaction between the members of different ethnicities resulted in creation of "Vedism" which believes in worshipping the trinity of Rain, Sun and Fire Gods. Hindu philosophy originally believed in the concept of animism which considers offering prayers to all the nature's objects like trees, rocks and rivers is now marked by following of stringent rites and codes.
This interesting co-existence of two approaches has left its impact on Hindu pilgrimages. Hindu Pilgrimages are often located at the heart of the nature with the presence of one or many of the natural objects like caves, rivers etc which shows the animistic philosophy followed by the Hindu. On the other hand, observance of rigorous and complex rites at the places of pilgrimage signifies its ritualistic approach.
The current form of Hindu religion mainly idolizes lord shiva , Vishnu and shakti. Accordingly, all the places of pilgrimage have acquired sanctity from their association with one of these three Gods. Lord Vishnu and his various incarnations are worshipped in the holy temples of Tirupati and Rameshwarm in southern India, Jagannath Puri temples in eastern coast and their presence is welcomed in the temples of Badrinath , Haridwar and Vridanban in North. In the same way, holy caves of Kedarnath and Amarnath have been believed to be sanctified because of their association with great Lord Shiva. Shakti, another of the main Hindu gods is associated with the holy Viashno devi cave. Another popular Hindu God, Hanuman, whose praise is sung through the poem known as Hanuman Chalisa, is also associated with several pilgrimages including Balaji in Rahasthan.
Two other famous Hindu Pilgrimage sites are the places of origin of holy river Yamuna and Ganga , known as Gangotri & Yamunatri. The other major places of Hindu Pilgrimage include Varanasi, Nava Graha Sthala temples of nine planets, Maths started by Sri Shankracharya , the shakti peeth temples, Panch Bhutha linga temple and yes visit to 7 religious rivers of India namely Ganga , Yamuna , Godavari, Saraswati, Sarayu, Kaveri and Narmada.
