Golden Age Comics
Golden Age Comics

The golden age of comics began in June 1938. This is the first appearance of Superman in Action Comics # 1, published by DC Comics. There were adventures comic books published prior to this point (before Detective Comics action for over a year, but Batman does not appear until 1939). However, these heroes have more in common with their counterparts in the pulp magazine that made him the superhero to come. For example, Doc Savage, was described at the summit of human perfection, but it is still conceivable in the field of human possibilities, while the capacity of Superman were clearly superhuman.
(Superman and Batman) caused immediate popularity publishers to launch a wave of super-heroes, or "Mystery Men "as were called in years 30 and 40, to their readers. Were introduced to the atom, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Captain Marvel, Captain America, The Human Torch. But perhaps the most popular character of all, was not a hero. It was not even human. It was Scrooge McDuck.
Superhero comics of the time, the characterization is simplistic and fantasies of power, often with the hero of the fight against the Nazi threat. In the 1950s, the Nazi threat had been replaced by the "communist threat Rouge.
They also show images strongly and racist characterizations, like many other forms of media at the time that coverage of Detective Comics # 1 shows.
But early 50s, comics had begun to develop thematically. Super-hero at the beginning, to be replaced by the horror and crime comics popularized by EC Comics. Only Superman, Batman and a handful of others continue to be published in the mid 50s. Book Frederick Wertham, Seduction of the Innocent, a scathing critique of comics in general and in particular EC Comics of the corruption of children ultimately led the creation of the Comics Code Authority, which prohibits the EC Comics of the publication of anything he had.
Western comic books and war remained People throughout this period, but it was not until October 1956 when the new Flash appeared in Showcase # 4, as age Gold comic ended and Silver Age began.
