You know, it's hard to say if the Clippers will be any threat in the Western Conference. The conference is so tough to play in, that you need a combination of talent, some youth, and experience. If any team could find that right combination, they would be a shoo-in in the NBA Finals next year.
The Clippers, in my opinion, will be no threat at all in the Western Conference. Their team is too young, with no real leader on that team. Unfortunately, since Elton Brand, who was the true leader of that team, is gone, their is no real leadership on that team. You have to remember that the Trailblazers have a similar group of young, talented individuals. Eric Gordon or Cuttino Mobley are no match for the likes of a Brandon Roy or Martell Webster. LaMarcus Aldridge is a rising star in this league and Greg Oden is a question, since he never played last year.
Even the Blazers are going to have a difficult time competing within the West. The important qualities to have in the West to be a threat are a distinct leader, quality players, and an experienced core. The Clippers have some quality players, but as I mentioned before their leadership and experience comes into question.
