What are the superman equivalents of batman's DKR, Year 1, hush, long halloween, etc?

Everyone who reads comics knows that Batman has a few select titles that his readers know to be the defining works on the character, such as the Dark Knight Returns, Long Halloween, Year One, Hush, Dark Victory, etc. I'm starting to really get into Superman (the new movie, I think, is the culprit) and want to know which Superman works are the fans' quality/defining equivalent to those of Batman.

Good question. I'm a big fan of both characters, but I'll be the first to admit Superman has not been getting the attention the other guy has gotten in the past 10-15 years, mostly (I think) because most writers and fans these days like their heroes a little closer to crazy than Superman is allowed to be. Which is too bad, because there are a lot of stories about the Man of Steel worth reading.

(And yeah, I admit the trailer for the new Superman movie has me really hyped for the movie... I just hope it's not another Quest for Peace, y'know?)

Anyway. My totally subjective list for the great Superman reads of the past 20 years:

-> The Man of Steel. (6-issue mini-series, 1986). John Byrne's take on Superman, which rebooted the hero for a post-Crisis continuity by changing & updating parts of the legend (eg, this is the first time we see Luthor as Awesome Evil Capitalist instead of bat-s**t crazy mad scientist).

-> Superman (old series) Annual #11 (1985). Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons create "For the Man Who Has Everything," a story featuring an imaginary tale about what might have happened if Krypton didn't blow up. Superman never was more tragic than this.

-> Superman for All Seasons (4-issue mini-series, 1998). By the same team that made Long Halloween (Loeb/Sale), this is a story from early in Superman's career, with heavy focus on his relationship with his dad. Moving stuff.

-> Superman: Birthright (12-issue mini-series). Mark Waid re-imagines Kal-El's escape from Krypton and arrival on Earth, with emphasis on the "lost years" in which Clark Kent roamed the world as a freelance reporter before moving to Metropolis and adopting his Superman persona. Great read with excellent characterization, and probably the only time I got choked up by the sight of a doomed father saying goodbye to his only son (my own recent entry into fatherhood having no bearing on this, of course...).

-> Superman: Red Son, by Mark Millar (2003). A What if story that asks: What if the baby from Krypton landed in Soviet Russia instead of Kansas? Imaginative stuff, and the real heroism of the main character comes shining through (also my favourite depiction of Luthor yet).

-> For something a little lighter, I'd recommend Superman Inc. (1998), another "what if" tale that sees young Clark Suderman use his power to become a sports/media celebrity instead of a superhero. Interesting twist on an old story.

That's off the top of my head for now. I'm sure there are more good stories out there, but to be honest I've been really underwhelmed with the regular Superman series titles in the past couple of years (way too much manga-style art and daft storylines for my liking). Still, the new Morrison/Quitely series, which just launched, is showing some promise.

Dark skin needs special attention to unify skin tone, downplay overly prominent features and focus on the upper third of the face. - Best way to blend foundation is to mix distilled water in it and blend it in skin by rubbing otherwise there will appear streaks of foundation after sometime.
- If you have dark skin, less the makeup, better it is. Your focus should be on enhancing it's inner glow and highlight the natural color. It is better to accentuate natural shades of skin then by trying to blend different colors.
- It is better not to apply eyeliner and if you apply it use it sparingly in a thin line along with the shape of your eye. Never apply it on the lower lid. It will give artificial look.
- Choose mascara with natural or clear color. If you have long lashes, do not apply black mascara; it should be used only for separating the lashes.
